“What truly sets Nicole apart is her exceptional ability to communicate. She possesses a natural warmth and clarity in her interactions, qualities essential for a divemaster working with diverse international clients. Her social involvement during the course was remarkable; she built strong relationships with fellow trainees, instructors, and the broader 3W Dive community. Her approachability and positive demeanor create an immediate sense of trust and comfort with those around her. Passion for Marine Biology Nicole's genuine passion for marine biology shines through in everything she does. This passion extends beyond academic knowledge; it's reflected in her respect for marine environments, her desire to protect our oceans, and her commitment to sharing that knowledge with others. Whether discussing coral ecosystems, marine species behavior, or conservation challenges, Nicole speaks with both expertise and heartfelt dedication.”

Principal of South Broward High School
“One of Ms. Rivera’s most notable strengths is her innovative approach to instruction. She consistently sought out creative ways to connect marine and environmental science concepts to real-world applications, bringing energy and fresh thinking to her curriculum. This same innovative mindset will serve her well in the private sector, where adaptability and creative problem-solving are among the most valued professional qualities.
Ms. Rivera is an effective communicator who is equally comfortable engaging with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators. She presented information clearly, listened actively, and handled sensitive situations with professionalism and tact. Her work ethic was evident in the consistency and quality of her preparation, her responsiveness to feedback, and her commitment to meeting the demands of her role without compromising on standards. I found her to be reliable, organized, and composed under pressure. “
Kylie Cerra
Marine Magnet Co-director
“One of my favorite examples of the kind of passion Nicole has, happened over a weekend. While doing a beach cleanup on her own, something she often did in her free time, she found hundreds of sponges washed ashore. Without hesitation, she grabbed two large garbage bags and collected as many as she could. The following Monday, she turned that into a sponge dissection for her students. They loved it. That kind of initiative, curiosity, and genuine passion is exactly what made her such an incredible educator and role model. She also regularly gave up her weekends for beach cleanups and other opportunities to engage students beyond the classroom.
Nicole is one of the most incredible people I know—full of life, full of passion, and always eager to learn and grow. She inspired me every day she was here to be a better teacher, a better person, and a better environmental steward. She always says I inspired her, but the truth is she inspired me just as much.“
Sanda Lalicic
Director of AICE Cambridge Program
“Beyond the classroom, Nicole played a significant role in supporting and expanding our Marine Magnet Program. She contributed to student recruitment initiatives, outreach efforts, field trip coordination, fundraising activities, and program development. Her creativity, initiative, and strong communication skills made her an invaluable asset to both students and colleagues.
Nicole also demonstrated a remarkable ability to mentor and inspire young people. She fostered curiosity, confidence, and environmental awareness in her students while encouraging them to pursue opportunities in marine science and conservation. Her leadership extended beyond academics through the creation of the Sisterhood Society, a mentorship organization focused on empowering young women through connection, leadership, and community.
What distinguishes Nicole most is her genuine passion for the ocean and her desire to create meaningful impact through education, conservation, and community engagement. She approaches every opportunity with professionalism, curiosity, and a strong sense of purpose. I have no doubt that she will continue to make valuable contributions within marine science, coral reef conservation, research, and environmental outreach initiatives. “
